It’s been a few years since I last saw Jay Som, but damn, this act is fantastic!

Fans piled in early to see Jay Som play Lincoln Hall last week and I was happy to hear all the excited chatter before the show. People were sporting Jay Som hats, talking about the new album, and discussing her past Chicago performances. When they took the stage, singer Melina Duterte and her band did not disappoint!

Duterte released her third studio album, Anak Ko, back in August and has been spreading the love ever since. Her live performances always feel very intimate, not only because of the size of the venue, but because she sings with and incredible amount of vulnerability and no one dares speak during quiet moments. The dreamy soundscapes created by the band combined with beautifully harmonized voices contributed to the rich tones that permeated their performance. Cheers to another great set!
