TUESDAY – WEDNESDAY (11/3-11/14): Tenacious D @ Riviera Theatre
One of my absolute favorite duos is coming through town for two nights this week in support of their fourth album, Post-Apocalypto, and their animated series of the same name. The series took fans on a six-part journey leading up to the album’s November 2nd release. Every frame of the episodes was hand-drawn by Jack Black himself and every character was voiced by the duo. The album features close friend Dave Grohl on drums and proves to be a brilliant addition to their already powerhouse lineup of albums. Watch the series here!
WEDNESDAY (11/14): Kero Kero Bonito @Thalia Hall
Based out of London, this bilingual indie pop/rock band is doing an international tour in support of their new album, Time ‘n’ Place. Regarding the alum and the sound the band has created, Stereogum says “The band has a propulsive sense of fun, and they avoid sounding preachy or melodramatic by injecting humor and playfulness into every aspect of their music.” This tour marks the first time the band will be using a 5-piece live band while on the road which will give more depth and richness to their catalogue. SATURDAY (11/17): Vancouver Sleep Clinic @ House of Blues
At just 22 years old, songwriter and producer Tim Bettinson (Vancouver Sleep Clinic) released his new EP Therapy Phase 02 last month. This EP follows the higly praised Therapy Phase 01 which was released earlier this year. Bettinson’s weaving of soundscapes with hip-hop and R&B needs to be experienced to truly understand it. To get a feel for what he is creating, see the YouTube below. For tickets to his show with KASBO, click here.
