Alternative indie rock band, Middle Kids, played a sold out show at Lincoln Hall in Chicago. The first time I saw them live was when they were sharing the stage last year with Cold War Kids. Since then, I’ve become familiar with their music, and it was exciting to see them up on stage again.
The night began with an outstanding performance by Duncan Fellows. The charismatic indie band played their set and kicked off the night with their upbeat rock sound. Duncan Fellows finish up and then the night continued as Middle Kids got up on stage, ready to perform.
Lead singer Hannah Joy talked a lot about the meaning behind their music. She shared that even when things are tough, it is worth believing in something good and in the idea that we can heal. The new album executes her words perfectly. Their latest album Lost Friends, blends a great mix of tempos, catchy melodies and a well produced sound that completes the whole album and gives the listener a feeling of hope. The Australian band conquered their set by playing fan-favorite songs off the new album. It’s like you can almost get a feel of how enthusiastic the band gets when they were performing. I’m glad to be able to see them again and everyone should give their latest album a listen!
