The Marquee space at Virgin Hotels Chicago had a great night this past Saturday, as singer/songwriter Matt Maeson and opening performance Emily Blue played a sold out show.  This small venue was the perfect setting for that night’s performances because of its intimate, yet fun atmosphere. Opening act Emily Blue brought her charismatic personality on stage and played us songs that showed off her fresh blues pop sound that she incorporates within her music.  Following Emily’s set was Matt Maeson. His previous experience touring and performing has influenced and helped Maeson to successfully pursue his music career and add longevity to tour. Although Maeson was recently sick, he still played an enjoyable show for those attending. His sound of bluesy, indie folk and great mix of modern production was what immediately caught my attention and made the performance stand out. The crowd’s playful energy was felt throughout the night as we sang along to some our favorite tunes, including songs from his latest EP The Hearse. Maeson is scheduled to play at Lollapalooza this upcoming summer, so make sure you check him out!
