Down in the Elbo Room’s psychedelic basement, Mister Moon was second to take the stage in a series of four bands. Their show marked the band’s first concert in Chicago, and although they came in with limited exposure in the big city, I’m certain they left with new fans.
Before their set even began, those in the room were intrigued by the set-up on the stage which featured two drum kits. The syncopated drumming made for the most kick ass effect and had heads turning all night. The set featured innovative, percussion-guided songs and sweeping melodies that kept the attention in the room on them. There wasn’t a dull moment in their ~45 minute set.
Mister Moon is currently recording new material with the hopes of releasing a single soon. We look forward to their return!
