Fans packed into Lincoln Hall last Wednesday night to enjoy the folk rock of Aussie band Boy & Bear. I have listened to Boy & Bear for years and am always shocked that they are not more famous. With a rich, full sound and crisp vocals, they are, in my opinion, on par with the likes of Mumford and Sons, Of Monsters and Men, and The Lumineers.
The setlist was heavily pulled from the band’s two most recent albums, Limit of Love and Harlequin Dream, with only three coming from their 2011 album, Moonfire. Fans were a bit shy to engage in the newer material, which was noticed by drummer Timothy Hart when he commented that the crowd was very quiet that night. However, once some of the older material was played, fans sang along and danced with the Aussies. The setlist also featured a wildcard–Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black which took on a very unique sound.
It was a great night of music. I’m sure their fanbase will be excited to see what they come up with next!
